Green Day are working on the follow-up to their mega-selling and award-winning American Idiot album.
The 2004 long-play release earned the three-piece an audience not exclusively raised on punk rock, and now their sights are firmly set on matching that record's ambitiousness, if not bettering it. Singer Billie Joe Armstrong - who doesn't have cancer - previously told MTV:
"At this point, to put a record out with, like, twelve songs on it and turn it in sounds a bit boring for us. So we want to definitely make something that is well thought out and all of our blood is put into."
A post on the band's official website, here, confirms that they're working on material right now:
"Billie, Mike and Tre are back from summer vacations working hard on new material for the next Green Day album. Stay tuned for more news next week."
Fan? Then stay tuned, yeah?
