Mastodon soundtrack Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver September 12th, 2006

Atlanta-based rockers Mastodon - whose latest album, Blood Mountain, received a pretty special ten-out-of-ten review on DiS today - are among the acts contributing to the soundtrack to the forthcoming motion picture adaptation of Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

The big-screen version of the Adult Swim cartoon - find out more here - is to be released in Febuary. Mastodon's Brann Dailor and Brent Hinds told MTV the band's involvement in the film is their "crowning achievement as a band".

Drummer Dailor said:

"I get this random call from an Atlanta phone number, and I answer and it's [Aqua Teen Hunger Force: The Movie director] Dave Willis. I was freaked out because that's one of my favorite shows of all time. We totally geek out on that stuff, and I've bought the DVDs for the guys in Tool and The Mars Volta as gifts."

Mastodon's track features the line, "Leave your babies outside/ We'll run over them after the show". Nice. They didn't write the words, though - that was left to the likes of Willis.

"We're going to be animated as movie snacks," continued Dailor. Hinds added: "When the movie starts, the Hershey bar breaks out of his wrapper and plays a Flying V, he does a ripping guitar solo. And Brann sings like King Diamond."

Wow? Yeah, pretty much, actually.
