A survey by WebTV Europe has discovered that the average owner of a digital MP3-type player listens to just 2% of what they've copied on to it and, more interestingly, they hardly ever come close to filling the player to its capacity. Which sort of begs the question: why bother at all?
The knock-on question facing the industry concerns whether or not high-capacity players are worthwhile products. It would seem not, which is encouraging news for mobile phone manufacturers busy adding MP3 functions to their new models.
Customers arguing that they do fill their players should shut up - be fair, when are you ever going to listen to that Urban Cookie Collective record your mother bought you 13 years ago?
