Never one to miss an opportunity to open her gob in the presence of anyone with a tape recorder, Lily Allen has told the NME that she thinks the majority of indie-rock bands are "doing what S Club 7 and Steps did".
Which is funny, 'cause to date I've not heard The Kooks covering a Bee-Gees song, and nor have I seen The Fratellis starring in their own children's television programme. But whatever.
Allen managed to prise herself off the floor - well, those earrings ARE massive - just long enough to say:
"I like lots of indie bands. I'm a fan of good guitar music. I think it's just that at the moment everyone's like, 'Music's so great, we've got these great indie rock bands', but in reality they all sound the same. They're just doing what S Club 7 and Steps did - regurgitating the same songs because that's what people are buying at the moment."
She may have also said something about her new single, 'LDN', being out on September 25, but her music career doesn't seem like so much of a priority for the singer.
