Drowned in Sound returns to Brighton for the Great Escape festival for three nights crammed with music we love. Kicking off on Thursday night is a somewhat 'electronic' bill that draws as much from the ambience of Aphex, Burial and Eno as it does from the throb of Daft Punk and The Field.
Starting off the night will be SEEKAE from Australia, who recently toured their homeland with Mount Kimbie. Next up is STAR SLINGER who makes post-GirlTalk party shapes. Then it's WORRIEDABOUSATAN from Leeds (pictured above at DiS' 10th Birthday party) who take their name from a dEUS track and their influence from Dre and Explosions in the Sky, making for some of the most expansive electronica with hypnotic beats and a dusting of post-rock guitars. Headlining will be LUKE ABBOTT from Norfolk, whose pulsating debut album Holkham Drones was far and away one of DiS' favourite records of 2010. The event takes place at The Green Door, which is a new venue in Brighton on Thursday 12th May 2011 - Friday's bill will be announced next week, and Saturday's details will be coming atcha the week after.
