Soul singer Wilson Pickett has died of a heart attack, aged 64.
Pickett, pictured, died at his home in Virginia, where he had been holed up suffering from poor health for the past twelve months. He last performed in 2004.
Alabama-born Pickett's hits during his heyday of the 1960s included 'In The Midnight Hour' and karaoke favourite 'Mustang Sally'. Please, if you're considering a 'tribute' tonight, don't.
Less annoying tributes have quite obviously poured in, including...
Aretha Franklin: "(He was) one of the greatest soul singers of all time. He will absolutely be missed. I am thankful that I got the chance to speak to him not too long ago."
Solomon Burke: "We've lost a giant, we've lost a legend, we've lost a man who created his own charisma and made it work around the world."
Again, sorry...
