We're told, reliably, that Scots like three things oh so very much: booze, music and football. With this in mind, lager types Tennents are again holding their Futsal Sessions. What's Futsal? Good question - the answer is that it's like football, five-a-side, but with a "Brazilian twist", so we're told. Best keep those waxing strips away from me ya bastards...
A bunch o' bands will square off against teams from universities about Scotland at Edinburgh's World Of Football on February 5th - that's a Sunday. The event will be overseen by former Scottish international and Everton legend Pat Nevin. He's a wee man - steal his lolly and run off, laughing as he struggles to keep up with his wee little legs.
Bands that've signed up include King Creosote's Fence Collective, My Latest Novel, Aberfeldy (pictured), The 1990s and The Bees. The top university team will win themselves a gig at their student union, where ALL of the above will perform. Nice. Last year's winners, Belle & Sebastian, are sadly not defending their title.
The event is open to the public (1pm to 5pm) and entry is free, so pop along and laugh as some indie guitarist or other falls arse-over-tit trying to boot a ball in a straight line.
DiScuss: Certain DiSsers, including myself, were recently talking about setting up a five-a-side team. Who do you reckon we should challenge? I can't see the boys from The Wire putting up much of a fight...
