Muse vs Corporations at Their Worst
sclit by Septic Clit May 17th, 2003
Muse vs major coffee company...

If you've watched much commercial tv lately, you will have noticed the Muse cover of the Nina Simone classic 'Feeling Good' backing the Nescafé advert. Muse were not asked and are not happy.

A post on muse-official.com reads as follows:

Muse are very surprised to see their version of the song 'Feeling Good' appearing in a recent Nescafe TV advertisement. Especially as Muse specifically said no when Nescafe requested the recording. Muse`s management are on the case.

Reports suggest Muse said "NO!" because of the company's 'baby starving connotations'.

Rumours are rumbling that Nestlé/Nescafe upped their offer to 'ridiculous levels' and went through the publishing backdoor (as technically the songs rights belong to the recently deceased legend Nina Simone). Muse didn't give their permission for the song to be used, nor, apparently, did their label. A legal-type, on a certain music industry discussion forum, suggested that if all the above is true, the band have a "rock solid case".
