Another third Friday, another Silver Rocket bash at London's Buffalo Bar. What's in the box this evening? How's about a pair of tickets to a lucky reader and a couple of albums? Eh? Pretty freakin' sweet...
First up, here's what's going DOWN:
Silver Rocket club
@ Buffalo Bar, Highbury, London
8pm-2am (bands until 11.30)
£6 or £4 with flyer/NUS/after 11.30 or £3 to mailing list members
BANDS:
Lords - two guitars, one drum kit, plenty o' Beefheart-punkin' blues-soaked rock 'n' roll.
Quack Quack - jazzy noddlin' keyboard-tickling instrumental trio from Leeds, featuring Bilge Pump member no less.
Lower Forty-Eight - crackling post-hardcore power from San Francisco, releasing on this side of the pond through Monotreme.
The Mockingbird Nightmare - Kent-based purveyors of a rock in a vein similar to Pilot To Gunner and Bear Vs Shark... savoury!
Plus DJs from Silver Rocket and DrownedinSound!
So, tickets and how to win a pair: just answer the following question, pronto!
The Silver Rocket peeps dig Sonic Youth, but what type of animal was Sonic, the SEGA-created computer game character of the 1990s...
A) Hedgehog?
B) Sea Sponge?
C) Woolly Mammoth?
Answers to mike.diver@drownedinsound.com by 5pm today please! All entrants should leave a contact telephone number so I can let them know they've won.
The winner will also recieve a pair of albums at the gig, sans pennies: Lords' quite awesome This Ain't A Hate Thing, It's A Love Thing, and Lower Forty-Eight's equally fantastic Apertures. Just make sure you identify yourself to a DJ at some point. Maybe we'll even play you a song!
Silver Rocket's own website can be found here. Already going tonight? Add yourself to the gig calendar here.
