The Beeb could be in the brown stuff following their promoting of a Red Hot Chili Peppers performance last week.
The band performed their current single, 'Dani California', for Top Of The Pops from an outside stage in west London. Now, the London Borough Council of Hammersmith and Fulham are considering legal action after it emerged that the BBC did not have the right license for such a performance.
Indeed, the council in question received a number of complaints from viewers, prompting a spokesperson from the BBC to state:
"Performances in Top Of The Pops are considered to be a private event, not a public event. But if another licence is needed, we will apply for it."
What, exactly, said viewers were complaining about, we wouldn't want to speculate on. Opinions have no place in news articles, y'know. WINK.
