New TOTP a Success, Despite DiS's Disgust
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver December 1st, 2003
So we may have hated the revamped Top Of The Pops (click here to see exactly how much), but some 6.1 million people disagreed with us. Sort of.

6.1 million viewers is a significant rise from the show's average of 3.5 million, but the first new look show, featuring Elton John and Westlife, was considerably hyped. It remains to be seen if producer Andi Peters can maintain such high figures.

Whilst initial feedback appeared positive, BBC bosses must be fuming over a bungled Robbie Williams competition and the pulling of an unfinished Michael Jackson video (click here for more straight from the horse's mouth). However, the viewing figures will have them breathing a sigh of some relief, even though it seems likely that they'll tumble once rival show Coronation Street juices up its storylines.
