What The Fuck Have You Done?

Label:

ffletcher by Fiona Fletcher January 29th, 2003

What the fuck have you done? Filth oozes from the speakers of my stereo. The darkest, thickest, blackest, heavier than heavy sound that I have ever heard. This isn't heavy metal. This is... this is... this is TODD.

From the ground up, it's nasty, massive fuck-off HUGE-sounding electric keybass, monster metal riff guitars fighting for aural headspace, and a singer who slides from Cookie Monster growl to demented Texan mountain man howl at the roll of a psychotic eye. It pummels you with the autistic intensity of Suicide, while scaring you with the acid-fried lunacy of the Butthole Surfers, straddling the line between genuine freak-show and deliberate mind-fuck, a carcrash Frankenstein's monster of Krautrock and classic rock carnage.

It's the most intense thing I've ever heard. American society is sick and rotten from the inside out, and this is the sound of its decaying core. Redneck cops on rampages and crack-addled old women trample through tales like "Solid Gold Death Mask" and "Good Neighbourhood". Sick, twisted, totally wrong, totally off and at times almost brutally ugly, and yet it's compelling and astonishing and brilliant and it rocks harder than a truckload of fucking pigs. Disturbing yet still darkly funny and deeply true, this is the Natural Born Killers of music, you don't know whether to laugh with glee or run away. It scares the fuck out of me, but I love it. Monster rock!
