Rude Rkade

Beautiful

Label: Underwater Release Date: 23/02/2004

joe_shoo by Shoo January 23rd, 2004

“You used to be so beautiful / but now you look like shit / it used to be much easier / can you handle it?”

Supoib.

Funky, spiky, funny, fantastic. Rune RK – a multi-monikered producer – has Ibiza hits under his belt under his own name, as well as being the driving force behind Artificial Funk, whose ‘Together’ entered the UK top 40 last March. Given the success of subsequent releases of the calibre of the poundin’ ‘Calabria’ and its popularity with heavyweights like Emerson, Morillo, Deluxe and good ol’ Tongy, it’s a surprise that Skint declined the opportunity to get this fucked-up, honest, punkyassed monster out on their imprint.

Great music, like great art and great drugs, however, can not be kept from the slavering masses. ’Beautiful’ is a quality, crazed, edgy, housey piece of soulspinning magic that both pokes fun at the dancing, sweating wonderful people whilst appealing to their shaking booties and screaming synapses. The Acid Dub cut – favoured by none other than Josh Wink – is a suitably intense addition to the turntable.

Roughed up class for the mind and the mindless.
