The Futureheads

Hounds Of Love

Uh-Oh-Oh, Uh-Oh-Oh,

Oh-Oh-Oh, Oh-Oh-Oh,

This is the sound of a north eastern barbershop quartet screaming for a not-too short back and sides in quadraphonic unison. The Futureheads interpretation of Kate Bush's 'Hounds Of Love' harks back to the days when people like The Jam and The Specials were penning anthems that sounded just as vibrant on the terraces at your local football ground as they would on the pull in some grotty club on a Friday night.

Granted, 'Hounds Of Love' isn't one of the Futureheads' own, but the fact that this version is so radically removed from the original sets them apart from your average Pop Idol/Stars In Their Eyes coverfest dross.

Indeed, Sunderland's finest haven't just left their own indelible footprints on here, but merely stamped the remnants of Ms. Bush's quirky ballad into the carpet with last night's dinner's morsels, and if it weren't for some long time dead bloke from Tupelo, would surely be gracing the top of the charts by this time next week.

Editor's Note: There's also a bunch of top notch remixes on said record, and we particularly big up the 'Phone's Wolves At The Door Remix'
