It's been a while since a piece of pure guitar-pop has won me over quite as thoroughly as this, but C-Jags have hit a bit of a home run with these two songs. 'Sandy' gets stuck firmly in your head from the first few lines. 'Putty Boy' doesn't so much get stuck in your head as move in, unpack, put its feet up and ask for a cuppa. These songs are pure exhilarating rock 'n' roll with hit and run melodies, razor-sharp guitar lines, big choruses, memorable tunes and lovelorn lyrics. And shit hot shoes. Never shall a C-Jags review go by without a doffed flat cap for the hot shoe action.
C-Jags aren't gonna change the world; they're not trying to to. But they're putting a bit of style, swagger and sex back into guitar music, and fuck knows it needs it right now. And if they keep writing songs as perfectly formed as these, they're clearly bound for bigger things - catch them now so you can say you were there from the start.
