In a move that surely has absolutely nothing to do with promoting his new solo album Way To Normal (released by Epic on September 30 folks - roll up, roll up etc.), Ben Folds is set to reunite his famous 'Five - The Ben Folds Five, no less... although there's only three of them - for a concert on September 18. The bad news? It's in Chapel Hill, North Carolina... America.
It is, however, for a good cause (Operation Smile), so if you're feeling particularly charitable then there's a number of budget airlines that could service your transatlantic travel needs.
The band will be playing their last album, 1999's The Unauthorized Biography Of Reinhold Messner, in full at the show as part of Myspace's Front To Back series - like ATP's Don't Look Back gigs, only quite a lot worse.
Here's what Folds had to say to rollingstone.com:
"Of our three albums, this one brings back the most vivid memories. It was actually written to be one song of many movements, which is why there are motifs that appear throughout the album. That should make Reinhold a natural to be played front to back."
Tickets for the gig are available from Monday September 8.
