Crawl to overtake Camden Town in March
Lorelei_22 by Laurel Dreher January 27th, 2005
Ever dreamt of being an A&R man? Spending the evening hopping from one club to another, dazed, confused, ultimately too tired and drunk to make any critical judgements whatsoever? All these criteria can only point to one occurrence when translated into the world of the mere mortal: The Camden Crawl.

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, having been born in November 1995, the Crawl returns with a vengeance on Thursday, 10th March, offering a wide range of the good and um.. interesting bands on this year's scene. All of which, for one night, can be found in Camden Town. With the help of London's many independent club promoters, the festival will boast nine different venues througout the Camden Town area. From 7:00 p.m. till 3:00 a.m., the Crawl will treat 3500 punters to 40 different bands for the very reasonable price of £15.00 (that's a fifth of a Madonna concert, chaps), Camden Crawl goers gain access to the festival via a fashionable wristband, and will also receive a complimentary 40-track CD programme that features all the artists from this year's Crawl, as well as guide map and a timetable and bladdy bladdy blah. Usual stuff.

The full line-up and stage times won't be announced until the night of the event, but a listing of bands who are already scheduled to attend has been made available. Those playing this year's Crawl include: The Black Velvets, 10 Thousand Things, Amusement Parks On Fire, Art Brut, Clor, The Cribs, The Departure, Do Me Bad Things, The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, The Go! Team, Gravenhurst, Hard-Fi, Hot Chip, The Infidels, Kaito, The Kooks, The Longcut, Ludes, The Magic Numbers, The Chalets, Maximo Park, Nine Black Alps, The Research, Sons & Daughters, The Subways and Towers of London.

Ways to purchase tickets to the Camden Crawl are as follows: You can get them in person from Rough Trade Records, or you can call the 24 Hour CC Hotline at 0870 1432 202. There's also the ordering online option for those of you who prefer computers to people, in which case click here. Tickets are to be exchanged at The Bucks Head on Camden High Steet for wristbands which will get you into each of the participating venues for free.
