Tom Morello leads a 'Terrorist Attack' on LA
oappleby by Ollie Appleby October 23rd, 2002
Hat wearing ex-Rage Against The Machine man Tom Morello's new band Audioslave hit the news after the recording of a video for their debut track 'Cochise' had so many flashes, bangs and showers of pyrotechnics involved in filming that locals thought a terrorist incident had hit the LA suburb.

Afterwards Tom Morello told reporters: "All the freeways were blocked because they thought there was an attack occurring, the local police and news station literally received thousands of calls from people who thought the city was under siege."

He was also keen to stress that Audioslave (sewn together out of the three non-singing RATM members and Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell) will not be a one hit project: "There's almost another album's worth of stuff already done. The most difficult part of the process was narrowing down the tunes for the first record because the other songs are every bit as good."

Rumour has it that a second album would be released by Soundgarden's record label Universal/Interscope after the the first album has been released by RATM's label Sony/Epic, prehaps due to different record comapany or exclusivity legal wrangles, but prehaps just because, as Tom points out: "We ended up choosing the songs that made for the best flow of an album, but there are some pretty fat jams that are still in the can." and just one label can't handle it all.
