Be a DJ for the night: Birmingham
clloyd by Christopher Lloyd February 16th, 2003
I was at Korsakoff, a club in Holland a few weeks ago.

Whilst enjoying a cheap Leeuw bier, I noticed that the DJ had put on Atari Teenage Riot's 'Start the Riot'. Fantastic I thought, but how can he top that? Well my friends, who do you think could top the abrasivness of ATR?? I'll tell you who, Right Said Fred could, with their 'anthem' 'I'm Too Sexy'. This was both shocking to me, and yet truly fantastic.

Back in Britain, we live in a land where DJs are more famous than musicians, all with their set styles and rarely any kind of eclectisism. Well, maybe you should look at your record collections and do something about this terrible state of affairs.

There's a new night opening in Birmingham called Stick it on, the premise is simple: Log on to their website www.stickiton.co.uk, register yourself a dj name, choose five tunes that you'd like to hear played in a club, and get yourself down to the Birmingham Academy on the Sunday Feburary 23rd, between 7pm and 1am, or every last Sunday of the month, and you can play your tunes. Simple.

You don't need to the have the missing ability of Cut Chemist, you just need your vinyl or cds, your mates and the nerve to help create a great night out for all with the benefit of not having to listen to the same old music that is usually force fed on a night out in the UK!
