Fopp Award for New Music showcase: Tonight!
crablin by Colin Roberts February 8th, 2006

DiS is pleased to announce its involvement in this year's Fopp Award for New Music and the showcase taking place on February 9th

At the start of 2005, bands from Scotland and Northern Ireland were invited to send demos for consideration in the scheme and after much deliberation, four were chosen. The bands' award was a good few days in the studio, CD artwork and manufacture courtesy of Clear Sound & Vision, press by Press Counsel and being stocked in all of Fopp's UK stores. The scheme is overseen by the PRS Foundation, the charitable 'arm' of the Performing Rights Society, which is awfully nice of them.

From the hip-hop via electro-soul stylings of Monkeytribe to the waiting-for-mega-stardom indie rock of Thee Comrades (pictured; above) via the laid-back bluesy feel of Bouchereau and the quite frankly confusing fun times with the Abdominal Showmen.

As you may have realised, DiS has a penchant for things that are 'new' and 'musical' so we're helping with the following rather ace London showcase for the selected artists. Yummy!

Thursday, 9th February
THEE COMRADES
BOUCHEREAU
ABDOMINAL SHOWMEN
MONKEYTRIBE
DJs: CrabbyCrab, Jimbob + more
Compere: Colin Roberts
The Borderline, London, W1

Wanna come? Tough! No more tickets left...
