KaitO forced to change name
shadyadie by [redacted] March 17th, 2003
Norwich’s finest girl/boy noise terrorists, KAITO, have been forced to change their name cos some DJ in America complained and his dad’s bigger than theirs or something.

Yeah, we know there’s already a Kaito, a Kato, and a Cayto at least. Yes, we know the Norwich lot used a capital O at the end of their name to differentiate, but that’s just not good enough. Innit. So KaitO are now known as… Kaito UK. This isn’t as cool as Kaito X, but there you go.

In GOOD news, Kaito UK (as they are now known) have some gigs coming up in… the UK. Whoop whoop! And here they are:

March

22nd - Norwich, Arts Centre (with Bearsuit)

April

9th - Norwich, Arts Centre (with The Rapture)
12th - Norwich, The Ferry Boat (acoustic set, with The Microphones)
23rd – London, Brixton Windmill (with Querelle (hurrah!) and Jet Johnson)
26th - London, Highbury Buffalo Bar (with The Loves)

May

2nd – London, Upstairs at the Garage

(I don’t actually know if they’ll go under the name Kaito UK while they’re actually IN the UK, or if it’s just for when they’re in America, but it’s something to think about.)

In other Kaito UK news, they have just completed another album which is to be released in America on May 6th. It's called 'Band Red' and is on the label Spin Art. Their previous American release was a mini album on Devil In The Woods. And not only that, they played the South By South West (SXSW) music conference over there this week.

There is no sign of a 'Band Red' getting released in the UK, that we know of yet.

Check out Fiona's recent interview with the band here.
