After the critical acclaim for his last Mercury-nominated album ‘Heathen’, Mr David Jones, as he is known to his friends, returns with a nod to his early seventies heyday.
‘Rush Hour Soul’ is a stomping glammy number with twinkling piano runs, classic vocal hooks and crunchy guitars. Although there are slight nods to the Stones and perhaps a Sex Pistols guitar slash here or there, it rather disappointingly sounds like Bowie covering Bowie, which he really doesn’t have to do, given the quality of his recent… What? Sorry? really? Supergrass? No kidding me? Hmmm…
